I tried to reset my GameSpy password, and since the e-mail didn’t seem to be getting through, I decided to investigate. And here’s what I found:

Jun 6 16:30:45 mail postfix/smtpd[23312]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[69.10.31.133]: 450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname, [69.10.31.133]; from=<feedback@gamespyid.com> to=<email_cloaked> proto=ESMTP helo=<linuxops-admin-prd-relay-01-dmz.ign.com>

This makes me wonder… the French national institute INRA also seems to think reverse DNS entries are useless (their e-mails cannot get through either so I had to put an exception for their mailserver’s IP), and a consultant recently told me he prefers to disable this check on mail servers because it was too resource-consuming… So instead of doing my usual out-of-the-blue rant, I’ll simply create a new acronym: RTFRFC 😉
